My vision for eternal happiness is, ultimately to realize the state that
everything is happy for all eternity.
Meanwhile, I consider the present state
as good, in other words, I consider that happiness exists here and now.
Because thinking as such leads directly to peace of mind for each of us.
Here I propose to everyone that we make the world much better for eternal
happiness, recognizing the status quo positively.
Details of my vision,
as of 2018, are as follows:
1) To exist in happiness eternally
2) To
liberate human beings from their labors
3) To ends wars and armed conflicts
on Earth as soon as possible.
4) To realize Joyous Coexistence
5) To
coexist with the animals
6) To maintain and improve military forces forever.
1) To exist in happiness eternally.
The definition of happiness. What
is happiness in life?
I define happiness as a state where we feel positive
all the time.
For the definition of positive feelings, please refer to
the following:
Fun, happy, good feeling, restful feeling, exciting
expectation, various excitement, fulfilling feeling, sense of accomplishment,
feeling of various love, happiness with a sense of relief, happy" (Honda Tokio :
Habits to be happy "p20) (translated by me from the Japanese version)
"Happiness (close to) positive emotion =" joy "" appreciation "" relaxation ""
interest "" hope "" pride "" pleasant "" inspiration "" awe "" love "" (by
Barbara Frederickson): "The Happiness Advantage "p 57 (translated by me from the
Japanese version)
....
There could be counterargument against the
definition saying that the word “happiness” has much more splendid or supreme
meanings or saying that my definition of happiness is not perfect.
Perhaps such a supreme state might exist and we have not known it totally.
But I defined it as mentioned above because I thought that it accounts for
the larger part of total happiness. (Total happiness here means the supreme or
not yet known happiness.)
And because defining happiness as I mentioned
above makes the meaning of happiness concrete enough to be actual goals of real
social policies or personal actions.
In other words, this definition
makes the meaning of happiness comprehensive enough to achieve, and how it
should be for happiness, both politically and in an individual sense.
I
welcome your different opinions, counterarguments, or additions to the meaning
of happiness, because it will add to the perfection of happiness.
Incidentally, in a state of happiness, our brain chemicals, such as dopamine,
endorphin, or serotonin are secreted. By measuring the amount of those brain
chemicals, we might be able to measure the degree of our happiness in the
future.
1. What is a happy life?
In answering the question, I
quote the “image of happy life” suggested by Tokio Honda as follows:
The
happy life is, to feel small amounts of happiness daily, to feel medium amounts
of happiness at times, and to feel very happy occasionally.
“Daily” means
on an everyday basis. “At times” means a few times weekly or monthly.
“Occasionally” means one or more times every few years.
Small amounts of
happiness are found in our daily lives, that we feel from what we usually do,
the ones that we already have.
Medium happiness is felt when
traveling, sightseeing, watching movies or sports matches, joining local or
school events, doing volunteer activities, meeting people you like, eating out
at good restaurants, and so on.
Large amounts of happiness are felt when
we realize our dreams, accomplish set goals, obtain what is hard to obtain
(loving relationships, married life and so on ), and experience valuable things.
2. A world without diseases, aging and death (not concluded)
That is,
to reduce the sufferings in life such as diseases, aging and death. However,
only reducing could lead to the extinction of human beings caused by population
explosion.
It is the inevitable question which is a better society:
One is
a society where there are births and deaths.
The other is a society where
human beings can live in their eternal youth free from diseases, aging and
death.
As of now, I don’t know which is better. I don’t know if there could
be other good solutions to this problem.
3. I think we must think about
happiness after death, if a world after death really exists, though I don’t know
about this existence as of now.
If the paradise where there is no
suffering or grief should exist, I think every being should be in it. Meanwhile,
if an endless hell exists, I oppose to the continence of it.
If hell has
prison-like facilities, it should be a place for reducing and preventing crimes
or a place where prisoners should temporary be detained to be reformed.
(2) To liberate human beings from their labors
Most of the labor will be done
by robots, and human beings will be free from labor. If robots at least do most
of the labor necessary to live a minimum healthy and cultured life, humans will
be much freer. It will be enough for human beings to do a little labor. For
example, what kind of life is it?
Every day is like Sunday.
In
the morning, after having eaten breakfast leisurely, think about how to spend
today. It’s nice weather today. Shall we go out hiking with the family? I also
have interesting TV programs to watch. It is good to be relaxed at home.
Certainly last week, a restaurant where there is a robot chef which granted the
rank of three stars has opened. Shall I eat dinner there? Waiters and waitresses
are human beings. They work four hours a week. Even if neither they nor I work,
we can live ordinary lives, but I want additional income. It is acceptable to
get a job, and there are some people who are getting additional money by the
results of free activities evaluated from the country or other people.
When promoting robotization, coordination will be necessary both domestically
and internationally.
Because human beings may not be released depending on
how robotization will be carried out. It can be that the robot would rob jobs
from human beings and many unemployed people could suffer.
Furthermore, many
people in some countries may lose their jobs unless global society cooperates on
robotization as a whole. This is because if any group of countries that has
advanced robotization would be superior in service, quality, price competition,
etc., the workers in other countries who continued working may lose their jobs.
In this way the robot takes away jobs from humans.
I would like to
introduce the idea of BI (Basic Income) to this situation. Even if people do not
work, the country gives them some benefits. The government releases humans from
compulsory and necessary labor and the government guarantees a certain level of
cultural and healthy lifestyle without working. Then, the degree of freedom of
human activities increases.
There is criticism for BI. "People who become
free may possess liberty and do bad things." But it is the same case when people
are unemployed. Rather, a society that utilizes BI will be stable. The society
would also be stable if hobbies and goals of the people are socially healthy.
(3) To end wars and armed conflicts on Earth as soon as possible.(Under
rewriting as of 2019)
(4) To realize Joyous Coexistence
The common goal among 1 to 3 is Joyous Coexistence. It is a state of joy in both
personal as well as human relations. It is also the idea of approaching the
extreme of joy in the reality that sways between the bipolarity of "always" and
"not at all". Please refer to my essay titled “Joyous Coexistence” for more
details. In the world there are conflicts among ethnicities, religions, nations
but it is also the purpose of overcoming them and living together.
(5) To
coexist with animals
Is peace only for human beings?
I think that
coexistence with animals should also be added to peace.
Even if “law of the
jungle” ”“eat or be eaten” are existing way of nature, there is no need to obey
them
We can build a better ruled world.
I am not against meat-eating.
I think that we should build an era in which we can eat meat without killing
animals.
Although seemingly contradictory, in fact it is heading toward
realization.
They are cultures of artificial meat, livestock (chicken) plant
without part of the brain, etc.
At the present stage it is not sufficiently
put into practical use because of research shortage and high costs.
Humans are destined to live without avoiding killing bacteria, but pointless
killing can be reduced.
As much as possible, we should reduce the rule of
“”eat or be eaten” by genetic manipulation.
Ecosystems maintained by the food
chain need to be revised at the same time.
I had killed someone's pet in the
past although I did not intend, however, I propose to build happy peace with
animals as much as possible.
(6) To maintain and improve military forces
forever
Peace and military expansion seems to contradict at first glance, but
I do not think so.
As a prerequisite truth, I propose that "the expanse of
the whole universe (everything) is infinite and it is eternal". Please refer to
another my essays about this truth.
Well, to be infinite and to be eternal
means that an unknown threat exists forever. Therefore, in order to defend peace
and deter conflict, military power needs to be constantly improved.
There
is a criticism that people can understand each other and conflicts can be solved
by dialogue alone without taking arms.
But I think as follows:
There
are many cases where conflicts can be solved by dialogue without taking arms,
and I think that this fact should be respected.
However,
1. The
opponents are not necessarily people.
2. Dialogue cannot be made unless both
sides respond.
3. If there is no defense capability to keep reasons of
thinking, talking, memorizing, wanting peace, the dialogue will be destroyed
easily by the opponents.
4. Both sides do not necessarily want peace.
5.
Force has a deterrence.
From these facts, I believe that peace should be
expanded and developed while improving military forces forever
