Bosnia should be re-established and developed as a
single state in which different peoples and religious
groups can live together again.
From this point of view, I think that the Dayton peace agreement is not perfect.
As a premise, I consider that the reason to govern is
to protect and promote the welfare of ALL of the people
living in the region and that the historical and
geographical conditions should be considered in organizing
the style of the government.
Then, when we regard peace as a most precious thing, Joyous
Coexistence among the different ethnic and religious
groups on earth must be a goal of the political world.
And especially in the Balkans, which is located between the
East and the West, where different cultures and people
meet, we can expect the development of such coexistence.
In spite of such expectation, we humans have caused so
many tragedies in
the region, and the ethnic conflict in the former Yugoslavia
has happened even in the very recent history and the
division among the people is still remaining, although
we have made too many mistakes during the two World Wars.
Somebody would argue against the idea of coexistence saying that the ethnic
purity should be maintained and established through the division from the other
ethnic groups because of the superiority of his-belonging ethnic group.
But I cannot agree to the idea.
Firstly, I don't think any of the people is superior to the others regarding as the equality of human being.
The both goodness and badness, holiness and evil probably
exist in each of us. We are the same human beings before we consider the difference of the ethnicities, nationalities, and the colors of our skin.
Secondly, even if a person claims superiority over others in some fields,
how about the soul and deed? Just because of the superiority in the soul and deeds to the other people, should not the person practice the strength
of love to the other people?
With such regards, I insist that Bosnia should become a good example of coexistence, showing the golden path before the world to the twenty-first century, clearing up the cursed destiny of Balkan: "powder keg".
